10/5/06 Update

Courtney's doing fine; same ol' work, but new OSU football week! She is great for always coming down for home games to see the Bucks win another one, or to watch me march. I owe her big time for the gas, time, and money she spends to get here!

I'm doing alright; lots of stress right now since I'm trying to find a job and balance classes and marching band at the same time! It's tough, but with God, Courtney, family, and friends on my side, I know I'll get through it!

Wedding plans are kinda on hold right now since I'm waaay too swamped to get anything like that done. We did decide on an ice sculpture! It's gonna be sweet!

Steps in your life

Something I've learned since being engaged is that as slow as you might want to take things, sometimes it's fun and stressful to look ahead a couple steps. Courtney is thinking about house (which we should) but I found it to be premature. However, if we want to get a new house, we're gonna have to jump on it soon. Our dream is to have the Vantage house in Washington Place, however if we don't nab it before they start the framing, we may have NO say in the design and settle for what they want. Sucks, but that's the way it is. I wasn't sure about new, however after crunching numerous estimated numbers, it looks as if Court and I may be able to afford it. I just don't want to jump into anything that would screw us over in the end. I know, i'm just a worry-wart, but someone has to be. Courtney REALLY wants it, I do too, but I'm just scared. When Court calls me at 11pm everyday after a long day at work and class work, sometimes it's stressful to think building house, however it needs to be thought about. I wish i had more energy when she calls, but it's tough. Okay, wrong topic! Sorry.

Remember one thing: Sometimes you must do things out of the order YOU want so it will all fall into place the way it should. This is were multitasking helps and I need more practice!

Updates as of 7/27/06

We've put down our deposit for Willow Bend, booked First United Methodist (for Friday AND Saturday - Court...lol), Photographer is booked and has her deposit...Videographer is still in question, but we're pretty sure who we're going with. DJ is booked (need to sign contract and give him deposit). Let's see....what else....cake--done (it's gonna be awesome). See here's the thing; we loved our first prospective cake maker (it was delicious and beautifully done) but we already had someone else in mind who is a good friend and does many, many cakes. He uses an icing which LOOKS like fondant (a discussting, yet beautiful looking icing) but it tastes like a buttercream icing. So best of both worlds. Courtney is thrilled about the plans, and that's what is important. It will be an awesome wedding/reception, regardless of price. Yeah, we're being careful (some extra spending in some places) but it's a one-time deal and we're willing to cover it by making sacrifices now. We've decided to do our own invitations, thank you's, etc. since i'm kinda handy on the computer. That will save some money. Anyways, I know I've forgotten something and Courtney will let me know tomorrow (that's why I love her). Haha! I'll keep everyone posted on our future plans. It's getting very exciting!
